Organise pages in folders, with redirects
In Xodia, a folder is part of a page's address: put pages in folders to get addresses like /services/web/design, move a page or a whole folder in the Pages panel, and Xodia updates every link to it and leaves a redirect from the old address.

Step by step
How to organise pages in folders
Seven steps to a tidy tree of pages, without broken links.
- 1
Open the Pages panel
Open Pages in the rail beside the canvas. Your pages show as a tree, with Collection pages and Utility pages in their own groups.
- 2
Create a folder
Choose New folder. Give it a name, such as Services, and a slug, such as services, and choose the folder it goes inside or the site root. Pages you put in it will live at /services/page-name.
- 3
Move pages into it
Drag a page onto the folder, or choose Move to from the page's menu and pick the folder with the arrow keys. To change one page's address, open its settings and change its Parent folder or Slug.
- 4
Check what moves
Before anything changes, a card shows the new address, the files that move, how many links are updated and, for a published page, Keep the old address working. Leave it on so old links and search results still reach the page, then confirm.
- 5
Add a folder page
Choose Add folder page from the folder's menu to give /services a page of its own, such as an overview that links to each service. A folder without one is only part of its pages' addresses.
- 6
Undo or keep going
Press Cmd+Z or Ctrl+Z to put a move back, with its links and redirects. Rename a folder, change its slug, or move it with everything in it the same way.
- 7
Push and deploy
Push your changes and deploy. Your host serves the pages at their new addresses and the redirects from the old ones.
Moves
See what changes before it moves
Every move shows its new address, the files that move, the links Xodia updates and the redirect it leaves, before anything changes.
- Links in your pages, menu and footer follow the page
- Redirects go in your host's own redirect file, one hop each
- One undo puts it all back
Moving a page into a folder in Xodia's Pages panel: the confirm shows the new address /classes/bread-basics, one file moved, four links updated in three files and a redirect from the old address, with Keep the old address working ticked.
Plan
The sitemap shows the same tree
The Plan tab's sitemap follows your folders. Dragging a page there that isn't built yet changes the plan only; dragging a built page makes the same move as the Pages panel, after you review it.
- Every rule, clash and limit: Pages, folders and redirects
- Plan and site in step: Plan your site
Xodia's Plan tab in sync with the site: Home over Menu, the Classes folder with its two pages, and the Journal's collection page, linked to the Journal and Bakers collections in the Collections column.
Questions
Questions about page folders
Will old links to a moved page break?
Links inside your site are updated as part of the move. For links from elsewhere, such as search results and social posts, the redirect sends visitors to the new address once your host deploys it.
Where do the redirects go?
In the file your host reads: public/_redirects for Netlify and Cloudflare, the redirects in vercel.json for Vercel, or both when nothing in the site says which host it uses. Each is a permanent redirect, and they stay one hop even after several moves. On the Xodia template, the page files move into matching folders too.
How deep can folders go?
Up to 5 levels under the site root, such as /a/b/c/d/e/page.
Can a blog live inside a folder?
Yes. In the collection's settings, choose a Parent folder for its URL folder, such as resources, and its posts live at /resources/blog/post-name. See Build a blog with Xodia CMS.
What if an address is already taken?
Xodia refuses it and says why, such as a page that already uses it, or a collection whose items own that level. A collection can keep a slug free for a page beside its items.
Does it work on the Free plan?
Yes, folders and moves work on every plan. On Free, a site can have up to 4 pages, not counting collection pages.
