Switch from Framer, keep editing visually

Framer sites live on Framer, with no code export to take them elsewhere. Xodia rebuilds your pages as React and Tailwind code in your own git repository, lets you keep editing them visually at every breakpoint, and puts them live on Xodia hosting or the host you choose.

Free plan. No card needed.

The Style panel: a pointer sets the heading's weight to 700 Bold, the heading on the canvas turns bold, the top bar shows Saving and the class font-bold appears in the Code tab.

Why people switch

Keep the canvas, own what it makes

Designing visually is why you picked Framer. Xodia keeps that, and gives you the code.

  • Code you can take anywhere

Framer doesn't export a site as HTML, so leaving means a rebuild. In Xodia your site is React and Tailwind code in a repository you own, from the very first edit.

    See Git and publishing
  • One price for the whole team

Framer charges per site and per editor. Xodia is one flat price per workspace, for all its sites, with extra seats at $6 a month.

    See Xodia's prices
  • Edits that never cost a credit

Every click, style and breakpoint change in Xodia writes the code directly, with no AI in between. When you want AI, connect the one you already use.

Step 1: Import

Import your site and convert it to React

Paste the address of the Framer site you own. Xodia copies its published pages, then Convert to React rebuilds them as React and Tailwind code, without AI.

  • Pages keep their addresses and titles, and each one gets a score for how closely it matches the original
  • Content that Framer reveals with an animation comes over visible, in its final place
  • A CONVERTED.md file lists anything to check after the conversion
  • One import copies up to 4 pages on Free, 10 on Starter, 20 on Pro and 500 on Agency. See Import a website

The New project dialog on Import a website: the website address and project name, notes on how many pages your plan imports and what is left out, the box confirming you own the site ticked, and Start import.

Step 2: Content

Bring your CMS items into Xodia CMS

Your collection pages come over as pages. To keep them as content you edit in one place, create collections in Xodia CMS and fill them from a CSV file, or ask your AI to move the items for you.

  • Match each column of the file to a field, or skip it
  • Images given as web addresses are downloaded into your site
  • Your collections live in your repository, as files you own
  • Free includes 2 collections and 100 items a site, and Agency up to 40 collections and 20,000 items a site. Read about CSV import

Importing a CSV file into a Xodia collection: each column of the file with its first row and the field it goes into, update items with the same slug, and the check before import: 22 new, 2 to update and 18 images to download.

Step 3: Edit

Edit visually, at every breakpoint

Pick an element and change its layout, type, colours and spacing in the Style panel, from Phone to Wide. Each change writes Tailwind classes into your code, with no AI and no credits.

  • Six sizes from Phone to Wide, with styles that apply from one size up
  • Classes you can share and combine, variables and components
  • Hover, scroll and page load animations with Xodia Motion. See Interactions
  • Connect your own AI over MCP when you want it, on every plan, Free included. Connect your AI

The Xodia canvas at the Phone breakpoint with Edit on: the Navigator lists the page's layers, the selected heading is outlined on the live preview of a bakery site, and the design panel shows its style.

Step 4: Publish

Go live on Xodia or your own host

Go live puts the site on its own xodia.site address in one click. On a paid plan, connect your domain with the hosting add-on, or deploy to your own Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare account instead.

  • Check the new site on its xodia.site address first; your Framer site stays up until you move your domain
  • Or push to GitHub on every plan, Free included and let your own host deploy each push
  • Add redirects for any address that changed. Pages you move in Xodia later get their redirects written for you. Read about redirects

The Publish menu in Xodia with a custom domain: www.risebakery.com and the Preview, rise-bakery.xodia.site, each ticked with when it was published, the Password on Preview switch and Update both, then Push to Git and Deploy.

Side by side

Framer and Xodia, from their own pages

What Framer says about itself, with a source for each claim, checked on . Products change often, so follow the sources for the latest.

  • On Framer

    • No HTML export for self-hosting: published sites rely on Framer's own hosting services1
    • A custom domain needs a paid plan, and the Free plan is meant for non-commercial use2
    • Paid plans are per site, with editors paid per seat and translation locales as a per-locale add-on2
    • Framer's agents and other AI features use credits; its MCP server is free during its preview2, 3
  • On Xodia

    • React and Tailwind code in your own git repository, which you can host anywhere
    • Free: no card, a xodia.site address, and your own AI over MCP. A custom domain with the hosting add-on, $6 a month for the first site, then $5 for each more on Starter, or your own host at no cost from Xodia
    • One flat price per workspace: Starter $9, Pro $19 or Agency $49 a month, with extra seats at $6 a month
    • No AI credits: visual edits don't use AI, and your own AI runs on your own plan with it

Good to know

What doesn't come over on its own

Check these before you switch. If your site depends on one of them, plan for it first.

  • Animations

Framer's animations come over in their final state, not moving. Add the ones you want back with Xodia Motion, or ask your AI.

  • CMS collections

Collection items arrive as pages, not as collections. Rebuild your collections in Xodia CMS and import the items from a CSV file.

  • Forms

Converted forms look the same but need somewhere to send. Use Xodia Forms on any host, or another form service.

  • Code components

Framer's code components and plugins don't come over as code. What they showed on the page is copied; anything they did after the page loaded needs rebuilding.

  • Localization

Translated pages don't come over. Add your languages again with Xodia Languages, then translate on the canvas or with your own AI.

  • Ecommerce

Xodia sites have no store or checkout. Run the store on a commerce service and link to it from your site.

Questions

Questions about switching from Framer

Can I export my Framer site as code?

Not from Framer: its help centre says it doesn't offer HTML export for self-hosting. Import a website in Xodia copies the published pages of a site you own instead, and Convert to React turns them into React and Tailwind code in your repository. See Import a website.

Will my Framer CMS content come with me?

Your collection pages come over as pages. To manage the items as content, create collections in Xodia CMS and fill them with Import CSV in the Content tab, or ask your AI to move them. Free includes 2 collections and 100 items a site. See Xodia CMS.

What happens to my SEO and old links?

Converted pages keep their addresses and page titles, so most links keep working. Check each page's title and description before you go live, and add a redirect for any address that changes. Pages you move in Xodia later get their redirects written for you.

Can I keep my custom domain?

Yes. On a paid plan, add the hosting add-on to the site, add your domain in Xodia and change its DNS records when the new site is ready, and Xodia sets up HTTPS. Or add it at your own host. Your Framer site stays live until you change the records.

Can I keep using my AI the way I do with Framer?

Yes. Connect Claude, Cursor, Codex or any MCP app to Xodia, on every plan, Free included. Your AI reads and edits your site's code and checks its own work, and its usage stays on your own plan with that AI app. See Connect your AI.

Can I try it free?

Yes, with no card. On Free you can import and convert up to 4 pages, edit them visually, connect your own AI and put the site live on its own xodia.site address. Bigger sites need a paid plan.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You click, type and pick styles in panels, as you did in Framer, and Xodia writes the code. Every change is saved as you make it, nothing goes live until you publish, and you can restore any earlier version.
