Connect an MCP server for website building
An MCP server for website building gives your AI app the tools to work on a real site: add Xodia's server to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP app, sign in, and your AI can build, edit, check and save your site while you watch the live preview.

Step by step
How to connect an MCP server for website building
The same five steps for every MCP app. Only where you paste the URL changes.
- 1
Create a workspace and a project
Sign up for Xodia and add your site: pick a starter, import a repository from GitHub, or import a live site by its address. The project's live preview is what your AI will work on.
- 2
Add Xodia's MCP server to your AI app
Add a remote MCP server with this URL: https://app.xodia.ai/mcp. Choose Streamable HTTP if the app asks for a transport, and OAuth for sign-in. In Claude Code, the Xodia plugin adds it for you; in the Claude app, add it as a custom connector.
- 3
Sign in to Xodia
Your AI app opens Xodia's sign-in page. Allow access to your workspace, and the app can now see your projects.
- 4
Ask it to build or to work on your requests
Ask for a page or a change in your AI app, or select an element in Xodia, type a request in the ask box and ask your AI to work on your Xodia requests. In Claude Code, /xodia:build and /xodia:work do both.
- 5
Review the change and push it
Watch the change happen on the live preview. It stays in Xodia until you review it and push it to a branch; your host deploys it when you choose Deploy.
What your AI gets
Tools, prompts and skills for your site
Xodia's server offers 54 tools in groups: projects, workspace and preview, files, checks and logs, selection, checkpoints, requests from Xodia, review comments, site plan, CMS, forms, languages, pages and folders, skills, deploys, SEO and speed and screenshots. It also offers 9 prompts and 56 core skills, written by developers with 18+ years of building websites.
- Prompts are ready-made jobs, such as build, work, animate
- Skills tell your AI how to do each kind of change well, and stack packs add what your framework, CMS and host need
- Checks for design, copy and links let your AI test its own work before it hands it to you
The ask box under the canvas with the selected heading in it, a typed request, the request kinds with Design chosen, and Your AI as the one to send it to.
Content
Manage CMS content with your AI
Your AI can run your Xodia CMS too. Ask it to create a Team collection with a name, role and photo and add your five people, or to add ten blog posts from your notes, and it uses the CMS tools: list_collections, get_collection, create_collection, update_collection, list_items, get_item, create_items, update_item and delete_items.
- Every value is checked against the collection's fields before it is written, so a wrong type or a missing required field is refused with the reason
- It follows your plan's collection and item limits
- Its writes are unsaved changes you see in the Content tab and on the canvas, ready for you to review
- Pages and folders tools add and move pages with their links and redirects, and sync_site_plan keeps the site plan in step
- Collections in detail: CMS collections
The Content tab: a bakery site's Journal collection in Xodia CMS, its posts with their status as Live or Draft, search, filters, Columns, CSV and New journal post.
Your app
Pick the steps for your AI app
Each app adds a remote server in its own place. Xodia's setup guide shows the exact steps for each, inside the app and on these pages.
- Claude Code, with the Xodia plugin
- The Claude app, as a custom connector
- Cursor, Codex and VS Code, as a remote server
Xodia's New project dialog on its first step, with Connect your AI opened under Start a new site, Import from GitHub and Import a website and the Claude app tab open: add a custom connector, paste the Xodia MCP URL, connect, then ask Claude to work on your Xodia requests.
Questions
Questions about MCP for websites
Do I need to run a server myself?
No. Xodia's MCP server is part of the Xodia app. Your AI app connects to it over the internet; nothing runs on your computer for it.
Which AI pays for the work?
The AI app you connect, on your own plan with it.
Can my AI deploy without me?
No. Its changes stay in Xodia for you to review and push, and Deploy is yours to press. Your AI acts with your role, so it can't do what you can't.
Which plans include MCP access?
Free, Starter, Pro and Agency. See pricing.
