Description: What a canonical URL is and how Xodia sets one on every page: built by your AI from your site's one address, and set by hand in page settings with Advanced SEO.

A canonical URL is the one address a page declares as its main version, with a link rel="canonical" tag, so search engines combine duplicates under it.

How Xodia sets canonical URLs on every page: your AI's SEO skill gives each page a canonical link built from your site's one address, and each CMS item page points its canonical at its own address. With Advanced SEO you can set a page's canonical by hand in its settings, and once a site on Xodia hosting has a custom domain, its xodia.site address redirects there.

## What it is

The same page can often be reached at several addresses: with and without a trailing slash, with tracking parameters, or on a staging host. Without a canonical, search engines may split ranking signals between them or show the wrong one.

Each page should point its canonical at itself, at its preferred address, unless it truly is a copy of another page. Canonicals are a hint, not an order, so they work best alongside redirects and consistent internal links.

## In Xodia

A page's settings sheet in the Pages panel has a Canonical address field next to the title tag and meta description, on Xodia template sites. Your AI's SEO skills give every page a proper canonical when they build it.

The link check also flags internal links that go through a redirect, so links point at the canonical address directly.
